AFSSA staff will be providing resources and information at the Freedom for Families event on Thursday, September 4 from 6 to 8 pm. Hosted by the Immigrant Services Network of Austin (ISNA) this advocacy event aims to raise awareness about the impacts of immigration raids, detention, and deportations on the immigrant community in Austin–especially children and families. This event will uplift the stories and experiences of families impacted by immigration enforcement, inform attendees about ways they can support and advocate on behalf of their immigrant neighbors, and provide folks with practical ways to take action in response to the harms of immigration enforcement through advocacy, volunteering, and supporting local organizations that serve the immigrant community.
The event is free and will include live music and food. Attendees will also have the opportunity to help create a large, paint-by-number banner in support of immigrant rights that will be publicly displayed afterward as a message of support and solidarity with the local immigrant community. Register for the event here.
